Dave Channell was born in Roseville, CA in 1963. He was raised in a very musical household. Both his mother and father sang gospel music and his mother played the piano. At a very early age, Dave also showed an interest in music. He sang and played drums and guitar in church and schools all of his life. Dave started playing professionally at the age of eighteen, and his musical talents were first honored by the Sacramento, CA community when he won a Sammie award with the band, Young Country in 1995. Dave toured the United States and Canada with Blind Pig recording artist, Frankie Lee, and also played a season in Dolly Parton's Dollywood in Tennessee. In 1997, Dave joined the world famous biker band, The Fryed Brothers, and continued touring the United States. They played at most of the biggest motorcycle runs in America, including Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the Redwood Run, Hollister, and Laughlin. After nine years with the Fryed Brothers, Dave went out on his own and put together his own band, Fire and Wheels, in 2005, and continued to tour the United States. Fire and Wheels has a unique blend of traditional and modern style blues. Dave has again been honored with an award with his new band. They were voted best blues band by the Sacramento Blues Society in the Northern California division of the International Blues Challenge for 2009. Dave is very proud of his powerhouse line-up which includes Steve Wall, a founding member of the Beer Dawgs, on guitar and vocals. Steve was voted best guitar player in Sacramento News and Review's Sammie Awards for six years in a row. People are continuously amazed by his skillful guitar playing. Leigh Lunetta on drums, one of Sacramento's best, lays down the solid, smooth, and tasteful foundation for the band. |
